Aligned with the charter of NASA, this grant program is intended to encourage AMA Clubs to host scale model contests by assisting with the cost of hosting a contest. Specifically, NASA will grant the Club $250 cash, 100 NASA raffle tickets (to be sold and funds retained by the Club), and 5 raffle tickets to be gifted to each of the contest judges. Additionally, for Clubs hosting an end-of-year “Shootout” contest, NASA will pay for the standard NASA plaques for places 1,2,3 in each of the AMA classes. Incomes and expenses from pilot entry fees, raffles, banquets, tents, etc., are handled exclusively by the Club. In exchange, NASA requires the Club’s support in marketing the contest, and NASA to help further expand the scale model competition. Below describes the details of the NASA Scale Contest Grant Program.
• Club and contest must be sanctioned by the AMA.
• AMA rules for the event and scoring must be followed.
• The contest must offer all AMA Scale RC and/or Control Line Scale Classes (not required to have entries for every class)
• The contest must span at least two consecutive days.
• Display of the NASA-supplied event banner at the contest (and other events at the club’s field as possible).
