2025 C/L Scale Nationals
Pete Bauer Reporting
The 2025 Control Line Scale National Championships and F4B Team Trials are now in the books. The weather conditions at the AMA flying site in Muncie were not cooperative this year, with Saturday being a complete washout due to high winds; however, everyone had two chances to fly on a beautiful Sunday.
Thursday, July 10 – This year, the F4B Team Trials were held before (static judging) and after (flight judging) the AMA Nationals. Static judging was completed on Thursday, along with the R/C F4H model,s which have the same static judging requirements.

Friday, July 11 – All of the AMA CL Scale events were static judged, and then we started flying round 1. Fun, Sport, and Profile classes completed round 1, but high winds forced the postponement of the 1/2A, Team, and Authentic events.

Saturday, July 12 – The winds were blowing strongly, and the pilots decided not to fly. The decision was made to return to the flying site on Sunday morning to complete round 1 for the AMA events and then immediately proceed to rounds 2, 3, and 4.
Saturday evening was the annual National Association of Scale Aeromodellers (NASA) banquet. High static scores were awarded during the banquet.
- 1/2A Scale – Keith Trostle for his North American AJ-2 Savage
- Team Scale – Ed Mason for his Constellation
- Authentic – Ed Mason for yet another Constellation
- Sport – Mike McHenry for his Piper Cub

Mike McHenry was awarded the CL Scale Hall of Fame Award during the Banquet. He was a member of the 2024 F4B Scale team that earned the 1st place Team award.
Sunday, July 13 – FINALLY, some calm winds, so we were able to complete all rounds for the AMA CL Scale events in a very hectic day.
